“I propagate a few of the larger azaleas but my real interest is in the Polly Hill/North Tisbury selections ‘Michael Hill’ and ‘Joseph Hill’. These two July blooming groundcovers like a sheltered, semi shaded home with some wind protection. Throwing a pot over them will do that and keep the deer off.
Many years ago, about a week before I moved the plants to Maine, the deer rambled through my nursery one last time and pulled all the azaleas out of their pots, tags asunder. Though I had sixteen different varieties of these special ones, ‘Joseph Hill’ and ‘Michael Hill’ are the two I could ID for sure. Someday I’d like to get back to Martha’s Vineyard for more cuttings. “
